Building People First

OECC is a annual sponsor of "Generation G"; A week long sustainability/LEED program for middle and high school students. The goal is to introduce sustainability concepts such as sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, material selections, and indoor environmental quality to Detroit Public School students interested in architecture and/or engineering careers. DPS, NORR and O'Brien Edwards will target 30 students from Burton International Middle School and 30 students from Cass Tech High School to take part in a learning lab that explores the importance of LEED certified buildings and environmental issues. Each year a different focal topic will be introduced relating to sustainable design. The 2008 focus will be "Green Roofs".
